“Give to others, and God will give to you.
Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your
hands” – Jesus Christ. As we have read these strong
words, let us take a moment and ask ourselves a simple question, Have we ever helped
or thought of helping a needy person? Or have we done some kind of charity
work in our life for the sick and the poor? Today I will be speaking on some musicians
who have not only aced in their career with their superb music, but also made
numerous contributions towards various charities across the world by helping
the sick, homeless and impoverished.
Starting of
we have Taylor Swift, who is considered to be one of the most actively involved
musicians when it comes to charity. She provided an endowment of 4 million
towards the construction of a new education center in Nashville to promote
child literacy. She also recorded a song for the Haiti victims. One Direction performed at the Children
in Need 2011 and also
released a song “One way or another” for a Comic
relief fund. Rihanna donated 1.75
million to a hospital in Barbados in memory of her grandmom, Furthermore she
also released her own clothing line along with some other stars for “H&M Fashion against Aids”.
The hit American band Linkin Park released a
song “Not Alone” in support for the Haiti Earthquake crises. They also
contributed towards the Tsunami relief Japan. The EDM giant Avicii started “House of hunger” for alleviating global hunger
by supplying 2 million school meals throughout Africa. Miley Cyrus had
celebrated her 16th birthday by donating 1 million to the “Youth Service America” through
Disney. Recently Band Aid 30 released a song to raise money towards to the deadly Ebola crises in West Africa. Some of
the biggest names in music have contributed towards this recording.
These were
just a few artists and their philanthropic acts among the many. I could
probably write a book on the selfless deeds by these incredible musicians but its not possible. The happiness
you get after you’ve done some kind of humanitarian act is really
amazing. I would like to end this post sharing another famous quote- “It's not how much we give but how much
love we put into giving.” - Mother Teresa.
So the next time you indulge yourself in Charity it shouldn’t be for fame, but
should come from within. Cheers!!
