Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift!! Born on this very day, the 13th of December has made the eyes of millions of guys literally pop out with her cute looks along with her fantastic taste over music. The transition from the 2008 hit country song “Love Story” to her latest poppy track “Blank Space” makes me wonder what she has in store for us in the years to come. Born in Pennsylvania, U.S, Taylor Swift isn’t just an amazing singer with an extremely soothing voice but also a song-writer, actress and a philanthropist who can play the guitar, piano and ukulele.

At the age of 14 she moved to Tennessee to pursue her career in country music. As soon as she entered the world of music she began creating records after records, in 2006 she released her self titled debut studio album where in the track “Our Song” made her the youngest person to write and perform a no.1 country song. “Fearless” became the best selling album in 2009 furthermore she also became the youngest winner for “Album of the year” Grammy. Her follow-up albums “Speak now”, “Red” and “1989” made Swift the first and only singer to have 3 albums sell more than a million copies in the first week.

Just within a span of 8 years, she has won 7 Grammy Awards, 12 Billboard Music Awards and has sold over 30 million albums. In addition to her music career she has also acted in the comedy film “Valentines Day (2010) and “The Giver (2014)”. Along with this she has also towards numerous charities for child literacy, natural disaster relief and also supports LGBT anti-discrimination efforts. Music for Charity

“Give to others, and God will give to you. Indeed, you will receive a full measure, a generous helping, poured into your hands” Jesus Christ. As we have read these strong words, let us take a moment and ask ourselves a simple question, Have we ever helped or thought of helping a needy person? Or have we done some kind of charity work in our life for the sick and the poor? Today I will be speaking on some musicians who have not only aced in their career with their superb music, but also made numerous contributions towards various charities across the world by helping the sick, homeless and impoverished.

Starting of we have Taylor Swift, who is considered to be one of the most actively involved musicians when it comes to charity. She provided an endowment of 4 million towards the construction of a new education center in Nashville to promote child literacy. She also recorded a song for the Haiti victims. One Direction performed at the Children in Need 2011 and also released a song “One way or another” for a Comic relief fund. Rihanna donated 1.75 million to a hospital in Barbados in memory of her grandmom, Furthermore she also released her own clothing line along with some other stars for “H&M Fashion against Aids”.

The hit American band Linkin Park released a song “Not Alone” in support for the Haiti Earthquake crises. They also contributed towards the Tsunami relief Japan. The EDM giant Avicii started “House of hunger” for alleviating global hunger by supplying 2 million school meals throughout Africa. Miley Cyrus had celebrated her 16th birthday by donating 1 million to the “Youth Service America” through Disney. Recently Band Aid 30 released a song to raise money towards to the deadly Ebola crises in West Africa. Some of the biggest names in music have contributed towards this recording.

These were just a few artists and their philanthropic acts among the many. I could probably write a book on the selfless deeds by these incredible musicians but its not possible. The happiness you get after you’ve done some kind of humanitarian act is really amazing. I would like to end this post sharing another famous quote- “It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving.” - Mother Teresa. So the next time you indulge yourself in Charity it shouldn’t be for fame, but should come from within. Cheers!!
