Collabro

“Your talent is God's gift to you. What you do with it is your gift back to God.” – ‘Leo Buscaglia’ This quote by the famous American writer really left me dumbstruck as I kept asking myself “Do I have any talents?” And if I had , if I was making the best use of my talents? Or working hard so I could improve on it?? Now I’m pretty sure many of you’ll reading this also would be figuring out the answers to these questions.

Speaking of talent brings me to this newly formed English boy band group called “Collabro” specializing in Musical theatre auditioned and went on to win the 8th installment of the hit TV series “Britain’s Got Talent”. An unprecedented 11 million viewers tuned in to watch Collabro’s TV contest final. After wining Collabro also signed a deal with Simon Cowell's record label Syco Music. Their debut album Stars was released on 18th August 2014 which debuted at #1 in the UK.

The singing quintet, formed less than a year ago captured the hearts of the judges and the voting public with their unique take on songs from the musicals including their spine-tingling version of Stars (Les Misérables). They emerged as the winners beating favorites “Bars and Melody” - this young duo released their debut single “Hopeful” which went straight to #5 on the U.K Singles Chart.

The band has an enthusiastic following that they refer to as their "Collaborators". On 17 June, they announced their first ever tour, along with runner-up Lucy Kay, in 2015. We shouldn’t be labeling them as “Just another boy band” throwing at us some random pop songs. So I suggest you’ll to listen to their cover for 'All of Me', as well as new renditions of 'Let It Go' from Disney's Frozen and 'Stars' from Les Misérables and decide for yourselves.

I would like to end this post by another quote –“There is no such thing as a great talent without great will power.” So my beloved readers please make the best use of your talents and show the world what you are made up of. A loser is the one who tries and fails but a bigger loser is the one who never tries fearing failure. Cheers!!

These are my top 10 suggestion for this week: - Enjoy!!

Ø  Taylor Swift – Blank Space (Pop)
This song was declared as the next official single from her “1989” album after the huge success of “Shake it off”. Perhaps this may be the one of the best songs of her album.

Ø  Jason Aldean - Burnin it Down (Country)
This is the lead single from his upcoming 6th studio album. With its rat-a-tat drum loop and slinking progression with nice background music this song has topped the country charts.

Ø  Colbie Cailat – Blaze ( Pop)
The pop tune consists of synth sound, more of a party anthem and less drinking coffee along the beach kinda track from her album gypsy heart.

Ø  Martin Garrix & MOTi - Virus (How About Now) Original Mix (House)
This song contains a fast paced melody wherein Garrix pairs the catchy house anthem with a stunning, high energy bass line.

Ø  Bassjackers - Savior(Original Mix) (Electro- house)
This is a classic big-room track bound to be dance floor banger with its exciting build up and an extremely heavy drop.

Ø  Imagine Dragons- I bet my life (Rock)
This track from their new album has a slightly folkier vibe than the past hits “Radioactive”. It has transitions from apprehensive verses to loud celebratory choruses.

Ø  Kiesza - No Enemiesz (Electro-pop)

DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs

Hi folks, Today I will be speaking on the DJ Mag’s top 100 DJs in the world. DJ magazine popularly known as the DJ Mag, a monthly British magazine which was dedicated only to the Electronic Dance Music and the DJs was founded on the 31st of January 1991.This magazine publishes 2 annual lists, one for the top 100 DJs and one for the top 100 night clubs from all over the world apart from other hot news.

Since 2010 both these polls started following the concept of the hit show “American Idol” i.e. based on public vote where Trackitdown.net collaborated with the DJ poll to pull in the votes. This massively hyped Poll attracts nearly 350,000 votes and 10,000,000 views from all over world.

The award parties for the top 100 DJs this year were held in Amsterdam and London wherein the newly crowned DJ flying between the two by a private jet to play at both venues. Ain’t that awesome!?? To add to it DJ Mag will be hosting around 5 parties in the U.S. Anyone Stateside should seriously try to make the effort to attend one of these parties they are always seriously off the chain.

DJ Mag announced their results on the 18th of October. Hardwell emerged victorious taking the #1 spot for the 2nd year in a row. The new DJs to watch out for are Martin Garrix, Deorro and Chainsmokers. The link to the official DJ Mag top 100 DJs is http://www.djmag.com/top-100-djs . Please do check it out.

Some of the EDM fans may not agree with the charts though the votes are entirely fan based. Some may say it’s more of a marketing strategy to promote only certain DJs, rather than an organic reflection of taste in music. DJs dump enormous amounts of money into marketing campaigns engineered to get them higher rankings, and a good deal of that money may be channeled to the magazine itself.

The Bottom line is everyone may be having their own views about the charts but we must learn respect true Music and the artists who produce this true form of Music. As an EDM fan I am quite happy with the top 100 DJs rankings, the question is: “Are you?”

John Mayer

Hello readers, today I am going to speak about a famous American singer songwriter John Mayer. He recently celebrated his birthday on the 16th of October which was one of the reasons as to why I chose to write about him. Also with EDM being the latest genre of music introduced, we should not forget other types of music like Blues Rock, Acoustic and Blue Eyed Soul to name a few.

John Mayer was born in Connecticut, USA in 1977. At the age of 13 he became so fascinated with the guitar that he took lessons from a local guitar shop owner. He started of his musical career with his college friend Clay Cook. After few years they both parted ways because of the musical differences between them. He was mainly into Acoustic Rock, but gradually shifted to Blues and further shifted to Pop Rock.

Till date he has released 6 studio albums and he also collaborated with artists like B.B.King, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton together called as the “John Mayer Trio” to release their live album “Try!” He was also invited by Steve Jobs to perform at the Apple’s annual Keynote address at the Macworld Conference and Expo in 2004.

Mayer also performed at a number of benefits for charity throughout his career. To add to it he has maintained 4 blogs, his posts often deal with career oriented matters, it also contains jokes, videos, photos etc. He also hosted a one- shot half hour comedy show titled “John Mayer has a TV Show”.

He won many Grammy awards including Best Male Pop/Rock Vocal Performance in 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2009. He won a Grammy for Song of the year for “Daughters” (#1 on billboard hot 100) in 2005. Furthermore he went on to win the Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the year for “Continuum” in 2007. He was nominated at several other award shows and went on to win it as well.

John Mayer wasn’t only scoring the awards but he was also scoring the hottest ladies in Hollywood too. He has dated Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Minka Kelly, Jennifer Aniston, Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. Rumor has it that he has also been eyeing Jennifer Lawrence. I would like to end this by suggesting you guys some of my favorite John Mayer Tracks “Half of my heart”, “Who says”and “Paper doll”.
